Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso — Thirty-two humanitarian organisations mounted gender-based violence (GBV) programmes in 11 regions during September, according to the latest dashboard from the GBV Area of Responsibility co-led by the Protection Cluster and the UN Population Fund.
Their joint report shows teams recorded 554 new incidents, distributed 1,243 dignity kits to women and girls, placed 104 survivors in income projects or school-re-entry courses, and used safe spaces to counsel 1,815 women and 605 girls. Outreach sessions reached 14,392 people, 71% of them female.
Coordinators warn the caseload still eclipses response capacity. Outstanding needs include funds to expand survivor services, replenish dignity-kit stocks, train more providers, secure post-rape medical care within 72 hours, and widen survivors’ access to justice.
