Africa Newsroom, Libreville — The Gabonese football legend Roger Avah passed away on the night of April 4, 2026, in Port-Gentil, the provincial capital of Ogooué-Maritime in western Gabon, following an illness, as confirmed by family sources. Avah, a former international footballer, had his most successful days at the Portgentillais club, AS Sogara. Post-retirement from playing, he transitioned into coaching, taking charge of several clubs across Gabon’s first and second divisions.
