In the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), the number of internally displaced persons (IDPs) in South Kivu and Maniema has reached approximately 1. 74 million as of February 2026.
The surge in displacement, with over 134,000 new displacements since January, is primarily attributed to armed attacks and confrontations.
The Walungu territory has seen the highest number of returns, with 120,100 individuals returning in the past three months.
