Libreville, Gabon — The Organisation internationale de la Francophonie (OIF) has commended the smooth conduct of the electoral process in Gabon, following an observation mission conducted as part of the follow-up on the political transition. The mission, led by the Special Political and Diplomatic Advisor to the Secretary-General of the OIF, Ambassador Désiré Nyaruhirira, submitted its report to national authorities, highlighting a generally peaceful and controlled atmosphere during the recent consultations, including the presidential and legislative elections. During their visit, the delegation engaged with several key institutions, including the Constitutional Court, where they met with President Dieudonné Aba’a Owono to emphasize the court’s pivotal role in electoral dispute regulation and result validation, crucial for the credibility of the democratic process.
