Libreville, Gabon — In a bid to reinforce national blood reserves, the Centre de santé d’Awendjé, in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and the National Blood Transfusion Center (CNTS), conducted a blood donation campaign on June 30, 2026.
The initiative aimed to bolster blood supplies, particularly in anticipation of the holiday season when demand for blood products is traditionally high.
The campaign was part of a larger strategy to increase blood donation rates and enhance public awareness of the significance of blood donation.
The Fondation Internationale WELOVEU played a pivotal role in mobilizing young people for this cause. During the campaign, over thirty participants, mostly students, contributed to the blood supply. This event was part of a global initiative by the foundation to encourage blood donation among the youth.
The CNTS informed participants about a lottery registration opportunity for those who had donated blood since January 2026, which served as an incentive to encourage regular blood donations.
The importance of blood donation in Gabon cannot be overstated, as the country faces challenges in ensuring a steady supply of blood for transfusions.
The campaign’s success hinges on the participation and engagement of the public, especially the youth.
The Centre de santé d’Awendjé and the CNTS are hopeful that these efforts will not only increase the blood supply but also raise awareness about the importance of blood donation.
As Gabon continues its efforts to ensure a stable supply of blood, the focus on youth engagement represents a significant step forward in addressing the health outcomes of the population and the country’s overall well-being.
