This airstrike marks a significant development in the ongoing conflict between Al — Shabaab and the Somali government, which has been addressing the militant group’s presence for years. Al-Shabaab, an al-Qaeda-affiliated group, has been responsible for numerous attacks and has been designated as a terrorist organization by several countries.
