Libreville, Gabon — One year after his election on April 12, 2025, President Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema has initiated key projects under his “Bâtissons l’édifice nouveau “vision, but the path forward remains marked by both progress and unmet expectations.
Of the 15 promises outlined in his societal project, the Second Vice-President of the CESEC, Geoffroy Foumboula Libeka Makosso, has noted that nine have been successfully implemented. This includes measures in the health sector, youth rehabilitation, and security for artists and athletes. Additionally, initiatives such as the “CATER “program and the “OKOUMÉ TALENT “platform are in various stages of development.
However, six promises remain unfulfilled, including significant reforms in the health sector and efforts to support young people in difficulty. Citizens are also awaiting solutions to issues like the high cost of living and frequent power and water cuts.
Geoffroy Foumboula Libeka Makosso has advised the president to establish a monitoring and evaluation cell to ensure that the goals of the societal project are met and to address the aspirations of the electorate. He cautioned against political distractions, emphasizing the need for indigenous entrepreneurs to be central to Gabon’s development strategy.
As President Oligui Nguema’s first year comes to a close, the nation awaits the fulfillment of its promises and the realization of its aspirations for a better future.
