BUEA, PAV – The 60th edition of Cameroon’s National Youth Day was celebrated in Buea, the capital of the South West Region, with a spirited march past in the face of heavy rainfall on Wednesday, February 11. Despite the persistent downpour that soaked the ceremonial grounds, hundreds of young people participated in the traditional parade, demonstrating their commitment to national unity and peace.

Speaking to the press after the march, the Governor of the South West Region, Bernard Okalia Bilai, described both the Diamond Jubilee celebration and the heavy rain as “blessings.

Governor Bilai also highlighted the scale and smooth conduct of the celebration, marking a return to the atmosphere that characterized Youth Day festivities a decade ago. Governor Okalia Bilai expressed his gratitude and satisfaction to the youth of Buea and the South West Region, reiterating the government’s commitment to sustained peace and stability.
He emphasized the importance of ensuring that there will “never again be turbulence in the South West region.
