In Northern Côte D’Ivoire, the Security Situation in Neighboring Burkina Faso and Mali Has Led to a Significant Displacement of People.

The Soumailavogo primary school in the Tchologo region suffered damage from heavy rains and strong winds, disrupting education for over 38 students and 3 teachers. Côte d’Ivoire is also addressing a mpox outbreak declared on 1 July 2024. To date, 1,012 suspected cases have been identified, with 68 reported in 2026.
Among the confirmed cases, 256 have been reported across 48 health districts, resulting in three deaths.
In response to these challenges, UNICEF has been working closely with the Government of Côte d’Ivoire to meet humanitarian needs.
In the first quarter of 2026, five health centers in northern districts received PCI-WASH kits and personal protective equipment for healthcare workers.
