Salah Ahmed Jama, today launched the Somali Civil Society Conference in Mogadishu, emphasizing the crucial role of civil society organizations (CSOs) in the nation’s development.
The three — day conference aims to formulate a comprehensive five-year strategic plan for integrating CSOs into national institutions.
In his keynote address, Deputy Prime Minister Jama highlighted the significant contributions of CSOs to peacebuilding, social development, and humanitarian response.
He emphasized that a robust civil society is essential for sustainable state — building in Somalia. “Civil society is the backbone of our nation-building efforts, “he stated.
The conference, which has drawn participants including government ministers, civil society leaders, and international representatives, will focus on aligning civil society initiatives with national development goals and strengthening the partnership between the government and the public sector. Deputy Prime Minister Jama commended the constructive proposals and achievements presented by CSO leaders during the opening session and assured them that the government would prioritize their recommendations in policy implementation.
The conference is a significant step towards fostering a more inclusive and participatory approach to governance in Somalia, reflecting the government’s commitment to engaging with all sectors of society in the country’s recovery and development journey.
