Harare, Zimbabwe — 2026-07-06 – President Dr Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa is scheduled to officially commission the Mutoko Bioeconomy Industrial Park on 9 July 2026. Located in Mutoko, Mashonaland East Province, this innovative project is a cornerstone in Zimbabwe’s rural industrialisation drive and its pursuit of an upper-middle-income economy by 2030. Developed by Finealt Engineering, an arm of the Ministry of Higher and Tertiary Education, Innovation, Science and Technology Development, the industrial park is poised to transform the country’s economic landscape.
The park’s objectives are in line with the National Development Strategy 2 (NDS2) and Zimbabwe’s Vision 2030, emphasizing rural industrialisation and the value addition of local resources.
The project is expected to generate thousands of jobs and stimulate rural economic activity, aligning with the government’s rural industrialisation agenda. It is anticipated that the park will reduce Zimbabwe’s crude oil bill by approximately US$300 million, freeing up resources for further development.
The park will feature a biodiesel plant, cooking oil processing facility, and a soap manufacturing unit, with plans for a stock feed plant in the future. This integrated approach aims to create a sustainable ecosystem that processes raw materials locally and markets by-products, fostering a self-sustaining industrial community. While questions remain regarding the specific products and services the park will produce and its long-term impact on job creation and community benefits, the commissioning of the Finealt Bioeconomy Industrial Park is a significant step towards achieving Zimbabwe’s economic goals.
Its success will be measured by its ability to integrate local communities, generate employment, and foster innovation, potentially setting a precedent for future development initiatives in the country.
