Casablanca, Morocco — French aerospace supplier Safran Landing Systems will spend €280 million on a new landing-gear factory near Casablanca dedicated to the Airbus A320 programme, according to official statements released on Friday.
The plant will rise inside the Midparc aerospace zone near Mohammed V airport and is set to produce complete landing — gear assemblies for the single-aisle aircraft, local sources report. Construction is expected to begin this year, with production slated to start before 2028.
Official statements indicate the facility will create several hundred industrial jobs and add a strategic link to Morocco’s expanding aviation cluster, which already hosts wiring, composite and maintenance operations for global manufacturers.
Government communiqués say the project strengthens a partnership that began when Safran opened its first Moroccan site in 2001. Safran Group, whose landing-systems division supplies Airbus, Boeing and regional jet makers, has not disclosed annual output targets for the site.
Regional officials welcomed the investment as a signal that international aerospace firms view Morocco’s trained workforce and Atlantic-time-zone location as competitive advantages.
The Airbus A320 family remains the world’s best-selling single-aisle aircraft, with assembly lines in Toulouse, Hamburg, Mobile and Tianjin pushing monthly output toward 65 aircraft. Locating a key component plant in North Africa shortens supply lines to European final-assembly lines and hedges against capacity bottlenecks, industry observers say.

Authorities say environmental and ground — breaking permits are in final review and that more information will be released once contracts are signed with local suppliers.
