PORT — GENTIL, Gabon – The provincial governor of Ogooué-Maritime, Françoise Assengone Obame, is leading preparations for an upcoming visit by President Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema, scheduled for April 12 and 13. This visit is particularly significant as it coincides with the anniversary of the president’s ascension to the presidency.
The Agence Gabonaise de Presse has reported that while the official itinerary has not been finalized, initial plans have been outlined. The visit is expected to commence in Gamba, where the president is to launch the operation of a new oil well. Subsequently, he will travel to Port-Gentil to inspect projects initiated by the Comité pour la transition et la restauration des institutions (CTRI) and attend an official ceremony, including a dinner.
On the following day, activities are planned to include the raising of the national flag at a site in Sagara, followed by the launch of activities by the Société gabonaise d’entreposage de produits pétroliers (SGEPP). The governor has clarified that the schedule may be subject to modifications.
Governor Obame has emphasized the symbolic importance of the visit, which aligns with the president’s tenure anniversary, calling it a “distinguished mark of consideration “for the province. She highlighted the president’s academic history in the region and encouraged a warm and dignified welcome. Organizational committees have been established to coordinate the event, showcasing the local population’s organizational abilities and hospitality.
