FRANCEVILLE, Gabon — In a move to bolster the social protection sector, the commune of Franceville, located in the province of Haut-Ogooué in southeastern Gabon, hosted a capacity-building workshop for association leaders on Wednesday.
The event, organized by the Ministry of Social Affairs, brought together 46 association representatives involved in family, child, youth, and environmental protection. Participants were trained on networking techniques, skill sharing, collective governance, and partnership formation.
The workshop’s objective is to enable social sector actors to better organize, share efforts, and strengthen their intervention capacity for the benefit of communities. Diana Mampagou Ndombi, Director of the Association Life, highlighted the challenges faced by many associations, including operational, funding, and visibility issues. She emphasized that networking is an effective solution to these challenges.
Damien Radega Anatho, the trainer, noted that several associations lack visibility due to insufficient resources. He suggested that networking is a strategic approach to increase visibility, enhance action capabilities, and improve community impact. Association Femmes Visionnaires President, speaking on behalf of participants, expressed satisfaction with the training received.
She noted that prior to the workshop, associations operated independently. Now, they understand the importance of networking to increase visibility, share experiences, and improve skills.
The closing ceremony was presided over by Macaire Ndong Nka, Director of Social Action for Haut — Ogooué, representing the governor. He emphasized that individual action has its limitations, and networking is now a duty of efficiency and solidarity.
The event reflects President Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema’s vision of social justice as a cornerstone of national refoundation.
