Libreville, Gabon — The Gabonese government has appointed Tiburce Armand Nziengui Boussougou as deputy director-general of the state-run Agence gabonaise de presse (AGP), filling a post that had been vacant for more than ten years, official statements indicate.
The move, announced late Thursday following the weekly cabinet session, places Boussougou under newly promoted director — general Hermine Otounga Souna, who had previously steered the agency as interim administrator. Boussougou most recently served as an information adviser in the Prime Minister’s office, and has held communication roles in several ministerial cabinets, according to the same statements.
Government communiqués say the appointment is part of a broader reorganisation aimed at revitalising the national news agency.
The last person to occupy the deputy post, Jean Baptiste Ella Zue, died nearly a decade ago, leaving the position unfilled. No timeframe for further changes at the AGP has been released.
Further details are expected.
