Gabon: Journalist and Former Deputy Jules Esdras Dies in Car Accident. LIBREVILLE, Gabon — February 14, 2026 (AGP) – Jules Esdras Mouhouloulou, a respected journalist and former deputy, passed away following a tragic car accident in the Kango area of the Estuaire region in Gabon, according to reports from the Gabonese Press Agency (AGP).
The accident occurred on the night of Friday to Saturday, with Mr.
Mouhouloulou, who was returning to his village in the Ngounié province after a visit, succumbing to injuries sustained when his vehicle veered off the road and into a ravine.
The incident took place around midnight, and three other occupants of the vehicle escaped with minor injuries and are currently receiving treatment in a hospital in Libreville.
A former presenter on Télé-Africa, Mr.
Mouhouloulou began his career in media as an animator and journalist before moving to the Radio Télévision Nazareth (RTN) from 2008 to 2010. He later joined Kanal 7, completing his career in the audiovisual sector.
In 2018, he was elected as a deputy for the Nzenzélé district in the Boumi-Louetsi department, representing the south of Gabon under the banner of the former Gabonese Social Democrats (SDG) party.
Mr. Mouhouloulou leaves behind a wife and four children, at the age of 39.
His untimely death has been mourned by colleagues and the Gabonese public, who remember him as a passionate advocate for the media and public service.
