Libreville, Gabon — July 25, 2026 – The workshop for validating draft laws on the general status of the civil service and the general status of civil servants has concluded in Gabon.
The event, held from July 22 to 24, was organized under the authority of Minister of Civil Service and Strengthening of Capacities, Laurence Mengue Me Nzoghe épse Ndong, and brought together 29 administrations and over 110 experts. Representatives from the Presidency of the Republic, the General Secretariat of the Government, parliamentary institutions, and various general and central directorates participated.
The Minister indicated that the validated texts will now undergo internal harmonization and consolidation within the administration before entering the adoption process. Arcade Bruno Obiang Obame, one of the rapporteurs of the workshop, highlighted that the debates focused on texts dating back 35 and 21 years, which have become outdated in light of the evolution of public administration. He emphasized the necessity of revising this legal framework in line with state transformations and the need to improve working conditions in the civil service.
The organizers clarified that these draft laws are currently at the administrative stage and will continue their institutional journey through the adoption process, involving various stakeholders before reaching the Parliament.
