This new request for restitution follows a previous one for the personal documents of Samory Touré, a fierce resistor to French colonization who was decapitated in 1896, with his skull having been taken to France.
These are precious pieces for the heritage and collective memory of Guinea. “Since mid-July, we had already made another request to France concerning the personal objects of almamy Samory Touré and research, following this first request, inquiries were made at our request regarding the skull of almamy Bokar Biro Barry and his companions. It was at the end of July that we received a response from the French side, informing us that these skulls had been found.
