LIBREVILLE, Gabon — The 8th Catholic Charismatic Renewal Congress is taking place in Libreville, Gabon, with the event commencing on March 25th and scheduled to conclude on March 28th. The gathering, held at the Sainte Marie chapel within the Saint Joseph de la quasi-paroisse Saint Albert-le-Grand, is a significant moment for the movement in the country.
The congress opened with a pontifical mass presided over by Mgr Jean — Patrick Iba-Ba, the archbishop metropolitan of Libreville, on the solemnity of the Annunciation of the Lord at the Saint Pierre parish. Activities during the event include prayer, conferences, sharing sessions, and praise, all under the guidance of Bishop Eusebius Ogbonna Managwu Chinekezi, president of the Episcopal Commission for Lay Apostolate, and various chaplains from different dioceses across Gabon.
The final day of the congress will feature a pontifical mass at the Saint André des Trois-Quartiers parish at 18:00 local time. The event aims to establish a new national coordination for the Catholic Charismatic Renewal in Gabon, marking a significant development for the movement within the country’s religious landscape.
