Ivory Coast: Robert Beugré Mambé Reappointed as Prime Minister. Abidjan, Ivory Coast — President Alassane Ouattara has reappointed Robert Beugré Mambé as the prime minister of Ivory Coast, according to official statements.
The move comes just two weeks after Mambé resigned from his position following the country’s parliamentary elections in December.
Mambé’s previous tenure as prime minister lasted from 2023 until his resignation. His reappointment follows a victory for the ruling Rally of Houphouëtists for Democracy and Peace (RHDP), which secured 197 of the National Assembly’s 255 seats.
Mambé himself was re-elected as representative of Songon.
Robert Beugré Mambé has a substantial background in public service, having served for over 40 years. His career includes a role as the governor of the Abidjan district from 2011 to 2023.
He is known for his discreet nature and is often described as a technocrat.
The reappointment of Mambé has been met with a sense of continuity in the country. Ouattara praised Mambé and his ministers earlier this month for their work, suggesting that the president values stability in the government. Ouattara’s landslide victory in the October presidential election further supports this approach.
It is expected that Mambé will form a new government in the coming days, with the aim of continuing the policies that have been in place under his leadership. Further details regarding the composition of the new government and its priorities will be released as they become available.
