Since Late October 2025, Mali Has Been Addressing a Humanitarian and Security Crisis Linked to the Activities of Non-state Armed Groups.
The situation has been exacerbated by climate change, which is already impacting vulnerable populations reliant on meager agricultural incomes. This has led to numerous displacements, primarily from the regions of Sikasso, Ségou, San, and Kidal.
In response to tensions in the Kidal region, residents from villages such as Tassik in Takalote, Aborghach in Tessalit, and Tassijilit in Aguel — Hoc have been relocating to areas within Kidal, Aborghach, and Aguel-hoc between February 19 and March 19, 2026. Following confirmation of these movement alerts, the Emergency Tracking Tool (ETT) was deployed by the Direction Nationale de la Documentation et de la Sécurité (DNDS) on April 3, 2026.
The tool has enabled the identification of 6,007 internally displaced persons (IDPs) living across 1,030 households.
