Koulamoutou, Gabon — The Union démocratique des bâtisseurs (UDB), Gabon’s ruling party, is enhancing its presence in the Ogooué-Lolo province with a series of organizational installations led by Secretary-General Mays Mouissi.
The tour, which began on May 28, 2026, is focused on fortifying the party’s base in anticipation of upcoming legislative and local elections. Accompanied by a delegation including the President of the Women’s League, Laurence Ndong, and the President of the Youth League, Anicet Ango, Mouissi has been overseeing the renewal of local party structures.
The first phase of installations targeted the provincial delegation, followed by those in the two arrondissements of Koulamoutou and the Lolo — Bouenguidi department. Mouissi expressed satisfaction with the UDB’s growing influence in the region, encouraging members to maintain momentum leading up to the elections.
The visit comes on the heels of reassuring comments from the 7th Vice-President, Dr. Armande Longo-Moulengui, who highlighted the party’s efforts to mobilize the population of Ogooué-Lolo for collaborative development.
The ongoing installations across the province are expected to bolster the UDB’s political stance and expand its reach, with activities also planned in Mulundu, Lombo-Bouenguidi, and Offoué-Onoye departments. This strategic deployment is seen as a critical move for the UDB to assert its dominance in the political sphere, particularly as it vies for control over local and parliamentary levels.
The UDB’s emphasis on engaging with diverse segments of the population is seen as a strategy to gain new supporters and strengthen its base in regions where it has previously had less influence.
As the election season draws near, the party’s actions are closely watched by both its supporters and opposition alike.
