Alexandria, Virginia — The U. S. City of Alexandria will host a significant Morocco Day celebration on June 7, 2026, marking the 10th anniversary of the event and commemorating 250 years of diplomatic relations between Morocco and the United States.
Organized by the Moroccan American Network, the event will highlight the historic recognition of U. S. Independence by Morocco in 1777 and the subsequent 1786 Moroccan-American Treaty of Friendship, the longest-running treaty in U.
S. History. The theme for the 2026 edition is “Engineering the Future of Entrepreneurship,” aiming to unite entrepreneurs, investors, policymakers, and business leaders from Morocco, the U.
S. And Africa to strengthen economic cooperation and investment opportunities.
This year’s program will feature “Digital Fast Track “sessions, designed to accelerate investment in emerging regions of Morocco, such as Zagora and Dakhla, and foster collaboration in technology, media, and innovation sectors. The event will also pay tribute to cultural and diplomatic heritage, with a focus on identity and engagement among the Moroccan diaspora and digital diplomacy to deepen economic and institutional links.
Morocco Day’s origins in 2014 were marked by challenges, but the initiative, led by Mohamed Hajjam, has since gained official recognition and has become a major platform connecting U. S. Cities with Morocco’s economic ecosystem. The 2026 event is expected to further solidify this connection, positioning Morocco Day as a cornerstone for innovation, investment, and long-term cooperation between the two nations.
