Rabat, Morocco — Morocco and Oman have engaged in talks aimed at enhancing their security cooperation, focusing on counter-terrorism efforts and the exchange of information regarding transnational organized crime. In a meeting held today, Abdellatif Hammouchi, Director General of the General Directorate of National Security and Territorial Surveillance Directorate (DSGN-DGST), received Oman’s ambassador to Morocco, Khalid bin Salem bin Ahmed Bamakhalif. The discussion centered on bilateral security cooperation, with a particular emphasis on expanding the exchange of security information and expertise, as well as combating transnational organized crime.
The meeting also covered the international and regional security situations and their implications for global security and stability. It was part of broader efforts to reinforce the relationship between the two countries, reflecting their mutual desire to deepen security collaboration across various areas.
In addition to his meeting with the Omani ambassador, Hammouchi has engaged with other international officials this week. He discussed Morocco’s expertise in counter-terrorism and dismantling organized crime networks with Liberia’s Inspector General of police, Gregory Coleman, and with Indonesia’s ambassador to Morocco, Yuyu Sutisna, regarding bilateral coordination and the implementation of existing agreements.
Morocco’s commitment to global security was underscored by its hosting of the 93rd General Assembly of Interpol in Marrakech last year, where the country emphasized its dedication to multilateral security cooperation and the fight against transnational crime.
