Khartoum, Sudan — In a concerted effort to bolster support for vulnerable communities in Sudan, Qatar Charity (QC) has initiated a project that targets livelihood assistance, food security, and healthcare interventions across four states: River Nile, Sennar, Al Jazirah, and the Red Sea. Funded by generous donations from benefactors in Qatar, the project aims to strengthen resilience amidst ongoing challenges.
In the Singa locality of Sennar State, the Representative of the Humanitarian Aid Commission (HAC), Musa Mohammed Mohammed Ahmed, conveyed the appreciation of Sennar’s executive and humanitarian authorities to the government and people of Qatar for their sustained support in health, water, and food sectors. This support is crucial for Sudan, which has been addressing economic difficulties, political instability, and humanitarian crises affecting the visually impaired, physically disabled, and the elderly.
The project, which includes the distribution of 3,130 food baskets, with 700 baskets allocated to Sennar State, demonstrates a multifaceted approach that extends beyond immediate relief to long-term strategies for enhancing food security and healthcare access. Each basket contains essential food items such as sugar, rice, flour, vermicelli, pasta, cooking oil, and tea.
The distribution of aid in Sennar State follows similar efforts in River Nile and Red Sea states, part of a larger project that aims to benefit approximately 18,780 individuals across the four states. This initiative reflects QC’s commitment to humanitarian aid and development, focusing on the most vulnerable sectors of society.
