Mouila, Gabon — a Tragic Road Accident Occurred in the Town of Mouila, Located in the Ngounié Province of Gabon, on the Night of July 24-25, 2025.
The incident resulted in one fatality and eight injuries, with the deceased identified as Odile Gercia Mbina Ikapi, a 17-year-old high school senior.
The accident took place in the Dourouni neighborhood, with the pick — up truck carrying students from local high schools and colleges veering off the road and crashing into a plantation.
The students were returning from a “Nuit du Corbeau “(Crow Night) vigil, organized ahead of the baccalauréat results announcement. Investigations into the cause of the accident are ongoing, with authorities, including the representative of the public ministry, responding to the scene.
The driver of the vehicle has been apprehended, and all occupants were evacuated to the regional hospital in Mouila.
The young girl who passed away arrived at the hospital without vital signs.
The eight injured individuals received immediate medical attention, with two being admitted to the intensive care unit. One of the patients, a 19-year-old male, is currently in a coma following a cerebral hemorrhage, while the other is in a phase of recovery.
The hospital director, Gildas — Guy Ndongo, assured that the medical team would provide updates on the condition of the injured patients.
The incident has sparked a renewed call for improved road safety and infrastructure in the region.
