Rabat, Morocco — Moroccan Permanent Representative to the UN, Ambassador Omar Hilale, led a delegation of the United Nations Peacebuilding Commission (PBC) on a visit to the Central African Republic (CAR). The delegation’s visit, which took place from March 30 to April 2, included representatives from Bangladesh, Germany, France, Colombia, and the UN Under-Secretary-General for Peacebuilding and Peace Operations.
During a meeting with President Faustin — Archange Touadéra, Ambassador Hilale congratulated the President on his election and discussed his roadmap for peace, reconciliation, development, and prosperity. Hilale emphasized the significance of international support in consolidating peace in the CAR, noting the increasing confidence in the region.
The Moroccan diplomat also highlighted President Touadéra’s commitment to transitional justice and national reconciliation since his 2019 visit to New York. Hilale credited the gains to a stable security environment and clear political prospects, and he commended the role of the UN Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in the CAR (MINUSCA).
President Touadéra expressed his unwavering commitment to peace, justice, and development, acknowledging the support of international partners, particularly Morocco. He cited the 2025 Casablanca roundtable on financing the national development plan as a demonstration of African solidarity.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Ambassador Hilale invited President Touadéra to present the CAR’s model of peace and democracy before the PBC in New York, a proposal that the President welcomed positively.
