N’Djamena, Chad – The situation in the eastern region of Chad remains generally calm yet volatile, particularly in the province of Wadi Fira and along the border with Sudan. Clashes reported around Kulbus in Sudan have led to the influx of new populations into Kulbus in Chad.
An assessment mission is currently underway to evaluate the situation of approximately 3,000 new arrivals in the area.
In areas hosting relocated refugees, several security incidents have been recorded during the period, including vehicle robberies, intercommunal tensions, and traffic accidents.
Additionally, the disarmament operation conducted in the east by the country’s defense and security forces (FDS) has resumed in Abéché, with searches conducted in residential areas. Humanitarian personnel have been urged to fully cooperate with authorities, exercise discretion, and report any incidents, misunderstandings, or altercations immediately. Transnational movements and trends from 5–11 July 2026 indicate that Adré/Adikong accounted for 422 individuals (45% of arrivals), Tiné for 315 (34%), and Ouré Cassoni for 191 (21%).
Since April 2023, Chad has welcomed 936,900 Sudanese refugees (271,060 households), including 53,560 who arrived since the attack on El Fasher in October 2025 and 33,200 since January 2026. To date, protection teams have reported no restrictions or obstacles to accessing asylum.
