CAPE TOWN — The South African National Defence Force (SANDF) will commence an operation in the Western Cape province on Wednesday, targeting gang and drug-related violence.
The operation is part of ongoing efforts to tackle crime in the region. Thembisile Patekile, the Western Cape Police Commissioner, has appealed to the community for support, emphasizing the importance of cooperation with law enforcement. Patekile, addressing concerns about opposition to the deployment, stated that any resistance would be met with decisive action.
He expressed confidence in the police force’s ability to achieve success in the operation.
