Venezuela’s Bolivarian National Armed Forces have commenced a three-day military exercise dubbed Caribe Soberano 200 on Orchila Island, located in the Caribbean Sea. The drills come amid rising regional tensions following the deployment of U.S. military forces in the area.
According to images obtained by Sputnik, the operation includes land, sea, and air maneuvers focused on simulating real-world conflict scenarios. The exercises are designed to execute defensive, offensive, support, and special operations, preparing Venezuela’s armed forces for rapid deployment under threat conditions.
Defense Minister Vladimir Padrino López stated that the U.S. military presence not only threatens Venezuela’s sovereignty but also poses risks to the wider Caribbean and Latin American region. The drills aim to send a strong signal of preparedness and deterrence.
The government has emphasized that the operation is in line with Venezuela’s sovereign right to defend its territory and strategic interests.
