Libreville, Gabon — Sixteen innovative projects are competing in the Open Innovation Challenge of the Kimba Connect program, a strategic initiative aiming to align the solutions developed by startups with the concrete needs of the private sector in Gabon. Organized by the program coordinator, Yves Benoît Andecko, in partnership with the Federation of Enterprises of Gabon (FEG), the challenge seeks to foster local innovation and address specific industry needs.
The event, which took place in Libreville, is a testament to the Gabonese government’s commitment to leveraging technology to drive economic growth and development. It also highlights the government’s push for economic diversification through various initiatives, including the validation of mining conventions with Nouvelle Gabon Mining and the introduction of favorable tax and customs incentives to attract international investors.
The Kimba Connect program has thus far registered 91 startups and 32 partner companies, aiming to maintain a balanced ecosystem between solution providers and enterprises.
The initiative is supported by five partners: the FEG, the Société Gabonaise de Garantie (SGG), BCEG, ST Digital Center Gabon, and Huawei Technologies. Luc Ondias Souna, responsible for Digital Business School, praised the initiative, which brings together various actors in the digital ecosystem, including businesses, independent professionals, and associations, to find innovative solutions to the challenges faced by Gabonese companies.
The 16 projects in contention cover five priority sectors: education, health, agriculture, logistics, and fishing.
