PORT — GENTIL, Gabon – The Société de Patrimoine (SP) has initiated scheduled maintenance shutdowns at the Cap Lopez power plant in the province of Ogooué-Maritime, Gabon, in a bid to reinforce the reliability of the facility, according to a statement from the company.
The maintenance operations are part of a preventive maintenance program designed to repair leaks detected in the plant’s air networks and prevent potential equipment failures.
In a letter to the governor of the province of Ogooué-Maritime, Françoise Assengone Obame, the SP’s management noted that the interventions aim to fix leaks identified on the control and start-up air networks. Inspections revealed 24 leaks distributed between the pump room and the control post, as well as severely corroded pipes, faulty valves, and pneumatic distributors that require replacement.
The scheduled shutdowns, which occur every Saturday, are a result of a leak detection campaign that identified several anomalies on the control and start — up air networks.
The SP’s management emphasized that these maintenance activities are part of the planned operations and aim to plug the identified leaks to maintain the installations in optimal operating conditions.
The maintenance program, which is expected to continue through July 25, includes the repair of defective connections, replacement of damaged pipes, and renewal of pneumatic equipment, depending on the availability of spare parts.
The SP aims to improve the reliability of the Cap Lopez power plant, reduce the risk of breakdowns, and ensure the continuity of energy production essential for the operation of water distribution facilities in Port — Gentil, thereby securing the water supply for the local population.
The ongoing maintenance at the Cap Lopez power plant highlights Gabon’s commitment to maintaining its energy infrastructure and ensuring stable energy supply, a crucial factor in the nation’s development efforts.
