Lagos, Nigeria — Nigerian President Bola Tinubu has emphasized the pivotal role of traditional rulers in addressing the nation’s rising security challenges. During the launch of the autobiography of former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Oba (Dr) Samuel Olu Falae, in Lagos, Tinubu highlighted the necessity of traditional institutions in governance, particularly in times of heightened security risks and social fragmentation.
Tinubu tasked the traditional rulers to be active participants in conflict resolution and to act as stabilizing forces within their communities. He emphasized that peace and security are collective responsibilities, not solely the domain of government.
The President also appealed to the monarchs to promote dialogue, discourage violence, and strengthen social cohesion within their respective domains. The event, attended by political leaders, traditional rulers, and diplomats, was described as a reflection on leadership and national ethos.
Oba Falae, who was praised by Tinubu for his role as a bridge between tradition and modern governance, has been recognized for his contributions to public service, economic management, and cultural leadership. The President assured that his administration would continue to collaborate with traditional institutions to enhance security, social harmony, and grassroots development.
Tinubu’s comments on Falae’s autobiography underscored its significance as a personal chronicle and a mirror of Nigeria’s resilience through trials, offering valuable lessons for younger generations on perseverance, patriotism, and integrity.
