In a significant financial decision, the Mounana City Council, located in the Lébombi-Léyou department in southeastern Gabon, convened on Saturday, April 11, 2026, for an ordinary session. The meeting, held at the City Hall and presided over by Mayor Emerick Cédric Maka Tongo, was attended by local administrative and security authorities, as well as by Rodrigue Bokoko, a member of parliament. The session commenced with a thorough verification of the quorum, followed by the examination of the administrative account for 2025, which was approved without reservation.
The highlight of the session was the unanimous adoption of the budget for the 2026 fiscal year. The approved budget, totaling 213,809,045 FCFA, is balanced between revenues and expenditures. This figure represents a decrease of approximately 60 million FCFA from the previous year’s budget, reflecting the more constrained budgetary environment faced by the commune. Despite the reduction, the council is optimistic about the budget’s ability to meet the needs of the community.
The budgeting process also provided an opportunity for the council to endorse several measures aimed at enhancing the municipality’s financial capabilities. One such measure is the focus on land management, with the aim of strengthening the commune’s own resources over the medium term. Additionally, the Central Procurement Agency of Gabon, now operational, is expected to contribute to better financial regulation.
The session concluded with a series of decisions that underscored the council’s commitment to the development of Mounana. These decisions range from improving urban modernization to enhancing digital skills among the youth. The council’s approach is a testament to its dedication to the well-being and future of its citizens.
