C. Bobi Wine, the president of the National Unity Platform (NUP) and a candidate for the 2026 Ugandan presidency, is engaging with a variety of stakeholders, including policymakers, human rights advocates, and diaspora leaders. His strategy involves leveraging political pressure and international lobbying to counter the suppression of domestic protests.
S. Aid to Uganda, which he claims has propped up Museveni’s regime. He also urged the application of sanctions, including the Global Magnitsky Act, against the Ugandan leader and his son, Gen.
Muhoozi Kainerugaba, for their alleged human rights abuses and authoritarian rule. His efforts are supported by the NUP’s diaspora network and international lawyer Robert Amsterdam, who has previously aided his campaigns.
The opposition leader’s shift in focus comes amidst a backdrop of increased repression in Uganda and the 40th anniversary of Museveni’s rule.
