LIBREVILLE, 5 avril 2026 (AGP) – President Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema of Gabon attended the civil and military parade in Dakar, Senegal, on Saturday as a guest of honor. The event, celebrating Senegal’s independence day, featured a detachment from the Gabonese Republican Guard, which was commended for its performance.
The parade, themed “The defense and security forces, partners of the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games, “was presided over by Senegalese President Bassirou Diomaye Faye, in the presence of numerous civilian and military figures and foreign delegations.
The Gabonese contingent’s opening performance in the military parade was met with acclaim, reflecting the strong bonds of friendship and cooperation between Gabon and Senegal. The integration of the contingent into the Republican Guard represents Gabon’s commitment to valuing its forest and human heritage, as seen in the unique blend of military and traditional uniform elements.
After the ceremony, President Faye expressed his appreciation for President Nguema’s presence, commending the quality of bilateral relations and the shared desire to enhance cooperation for mutual benefit. He also congratulated the Gabonese Armed Forces and the Senegalese authorities for their contributions to the event.
