Kinshasa, DRC — In a case that has ignited public fury in Cameroon, Adjudant-chef Vincent Godje Oumarou has been implicated in the abduction and murder of journalist Martinez Zogo. Reports from Radio France Internationale (RFI) indicate that Godje Oumarou may have been paid an advance of 50,000 FCFA for the crime. Zogo, the director of radio station Amplitude FM, had sought refuge at the gendarmerie in Nkol-Nkondi after being pursued but was intercepted by the officer.
The investigation suggests Godje Oumarou’s involvement in an operation led by Lieutenant-Colonel Justin Danwé. Videos linked to the incident were found on Godje Oumarou’s digital storage space. Godje Oumarou is currently detained at the Kondengui Central Prison and faces charges in the Martinez Zogo murder investigation.
