Nkoltang CET: Gabon’s Future Waste Management Hub Set for 2027 Completion Libreville, Gabon – June 3, 2026 – The anticipated first emergency locker of the Nkoltang Center of Treatment and Valorization of Waste (CET) is set to become operational by the end of 2027. This milestone was announced by Eddy Gaël Homollo, a representative of Clean Africa, during an environmental awareness event in Libreville.
The CET, spanning 7. 5 hectares, is designed to replace the existing dumpsite in Mindoubé and improve waste management in the Grand Libreville area.
The initial locker, covering 4. 5 hectares, is expected to operate for six years. Homollo emphasized that the CET’s launch will lead to the gradual closure of the Mindoubé dumpsite and better management of household waste.
In addition to waste disposal, the CET will feature a Center of Treatment and Valorization of Waste (CTVD) for sorting, recycling, and waste valorization.
The rehabilitation of the Mindoubé dumpsite into a municipal park is also part of the plan.
The CET project aims to tackle environmental and health concerns associated with the Mindoubé dumpsite, including air pollution, water contamination, and soil degradation. This initiative is part of Gabon’s broader strategy to modernize waste management in line with global environmental standards.
As the CET Nkoltang approaches completion, the nation awaits its potential to revolutionize waste management practices not only in Gabon but across Africa.
