In Makokou, the governor of the Ogooué-Ivindo province, Christiane Leckat, has launched a provincial sensitization campaign for the operationalization of the Fonds 4 of the Caisse Nationale d’Assurance Maladie et de Garantie Sociale (CNAMGS).
The campaign is aimed at extending health insurance and social guarantees to workers in the informal sector and self — employed individuals.
Under the provisions of the law No. 036/2023 of July 17, 2023, the Fonds 4 is intended for independent workers and voluntary insured individuals.
It is expected to enable thousands of people in the informal sector to join the mandatory health insurance and social guarantee scheme, including traders, artisans, transporters, farmers, fishers, herders, individual entrepreneurs, liberal professionals, and informal sector actors.
President Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema has emphasized the need for the operationalization of Fonds 4 to expand health coverage to all populations and strengthen the financial sustainability of the CNAMGS.
The campaign is part of an ambitious vision for a Gabon where every citizen, regardless of professional status, can benefit from appropriate social protection.
The CNAMGS provincial delegate, Joseph Gaetan Nkoghé, highlighted the campaign’s objective to inform the public about the benefits of Fonds 4, the conditions for membership, and the practical procedures for registration. He encouraged all independent workers in the province to participate actively when registration operations begin.
The campaign will be supported by CNAMGS teams deploying across departments and their capitals, markets, neighborhoods, and villages, with the assistance of administrative authorities, local communities, and community partners.
