FRANCEVILLE, Gabon — On March 27, 2026, a sensitization campaign was conducted in Franceville, the capital of Gabon’s Haut-Ogooué province, ahead of the General Population and Housing Census (RGPL), according to the Gabonese Press Agency (AGP).
The campaign, led by the Planning Department, aimed to educate residents about the census process and the role of enumerators in collecting data from collective households such as hospitals, prisons, and universities. Noëlle Obounou Abeghe, the mission leader, highlighted the importance of this preparation, stating that the census affects everyone.
During the tour, the delegation visited key sites including the Amissa Bongo University Hospital, the Central Prison of Franceville, and the Hosanna Orphanage, engaging with responsible parties to ensure the information was effectively communicated to residents. The campaign concluded with the distribution of donations to the Central Prison and the Hosanna Orphanage, underscoring the government’s commitment to the census and the welfare of the community.
