DRC, Kinshasa – May 27, 2026. Governor Francis Oyinamono of Ngounié province, located in southern Gabon, officially opened the school map meeting in Mouila on this day.
The Gabonese Press Agency reported the gathering of prefects, mayors, educational leaders, and security forces, who convened to discuss pressing educational issues.
In his opening speech, Governor Oyinamono emphasized education’s importance as a fundamental pillar of societal development and a top priority of President Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguéma.
The goal of the meeting is to ensure educational offerings align with students’real needs and produce practical recommendations to bolster the effectiveness of the provincial education system.
Director of the Provincial Academy Ilagou Mboumba highlighted that the school map serves as a platform for exchanging views and collecting precise information necessary for transforming the educational environment.
The participants’recommendations are aimed at improving the system’s efficiency.
Parallel to the meeting, the closing ceremony of the FEGAS activities was held at the Mbombet Stadium, where the Lycée d’excellence Mbombet Agnangué won against Lycée public Jean-Jacques Boucavel with a 4-3 penalty shootout result.
The school map initiative, as a component of the government’s efforts to improve the education system, comes at a time when Gabon is addressing ongoing strikes and delays in school projects, such as the CES D’ALENAKIRI complex’s rehabilitation and extension, completed at a cost of nearly 4 billion Central African Francs.
The meeting in Mouila represents an opportunity to address these challenges and align educational strategies with the province’s needs, reflecting a commitment to educational reform across the region.
