Libreville, March 29, 2026 – At the 11th Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Organization of States of Africa, the Caribbean, and the Pacific (OEACP), Angola’s President, João Lourenço, transferred the presidency to Equatorial Guinea’s President, Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo. The handover was marked by the symbolic delivery of the organization’s insignia, flag, and logo to President Obiang, signifying institutional continuity and responsibility. Angola’s presidency of the OEACP, which commenced in 2022, concluded with this transfer.
During Angola’s tenure, the country has been instrumental in promoting institutional reforms, reinforcing strategic partnerships, and fostering a new cooperative approach among member states. President Lourenço’s opening remarks at the summit emphasized the advancements made under his leadership, such as improved ties with the European Union, the establishment of internal decision-making mechanisms, and efforts to secure financial resources for the OEACP.
The OEACP, encompassing 79 states from Africa, the Caribbean, and the Pacific, acts as a platform for international coordination and cooperation, aiming to advance sustainable development and protect shared interests globally.
