Tirhas Nirayo, the head of socio — economic affairs and projects at the NUEW branch, outlined the union’s efforts over the past 16 years. These have encompassed significant water and soil conservation projects, afforestation, and biodiversity enhancement activities. Union members have been instrumental in these programs, particularly in areas such as Mihlab, Ira, Debresina, Wara, Deki-Gebru, Gebgabo, Liban, and Habrengeka.
Collaborating with partners, the union has introduced backyard poultry farming in Elaberet and Adi — Tekelezan sub-zones. This initiative includes training and financial support to help farmers expand their poultry farming activities.
The union has also organized training sessions to develop beekeeping skills among local farmers.
