Yaoundé, Cameroon – July 17, 2026 – The Nkafu Policy Institute, an affiliate of the Denis and Lenora Foretia Foundation, has concluded a series of Operational Working Group (OWG) sessions aimed at charting a comprehensive roadmap for health insurance reform in Cameroon. Held on July 16, 2026, at the Mansel Hotel in Yaoundé, these sessions were pivotal in addressing the challenges and opportunities within the country’s health insurance sector.
The OWG sessions, which gathered researchers, health experts, and various stakeholders, were marked by discussions emphasizing the need for robust inter — ministerial collaboration and health financing reforms. Dr. Julienne Mesumbe, Deputy Director of the Health Division at the Nkafu Policy Institute, highlighted the importance of these reforms in expanding private health insurance and accelerating the achievement of Universal Health Coverage (UHC) in Cameroon.
