FRANCEVILLE, Gabon — In a bid to ensure a smooth and inclusive General Population and Housing Census (RGPL) in the Haut-Ogooué province, a sensitization campaign was conducted in Franceville, the provincial capital. The campaign, which took place on March 27, 2026, was led by the department of Planning and aimed to inform residents about the census process.
During the campaign, officials visited key collective households across Franceville, including hospitals, prisons, barracks, orphanages, and university residences. The mission was led by Noëlle Obounou Abeghe, who highlighted the universal nature of the census, emphasizing that “This census concerns everyone.”The team engaged with the heads of these institutions to ensure that the information was effectively communicated to all residents. According to Obounou Abeghe, the active participation of each structure’s leadership is crucial for the success of the census.
The campaign concluded with the distribution of gifts to the central prison and the Hosanna orphanage, underscoring the importance of the census within the community. The sensitization drive is a precursor to the actual census process, which is set to commence in the near future.
